Ronnie Rue Bids Farewell to Zydeco Roadrunners

October 11, 2017

LAFAYETTE, LA - For the last 4 and a half years Ronnie Rue had the honor of playing lead guitar in one of Acadiana's hottest zydeco bands, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners.

If you have ever been to a Leroy Thomas show in recent years it wasn't hard to describe Ronnie Rue to a new Roadrunner fan.  "He's the guy playing lead guitar that kinda looks like Kid Rock."  That's how I've described Ronnie to several friends over the last few years.

Well, earlier this afternoon (Wednesday, October 11th) Ronnie released some shocking news via his Facebook page.

It read,

"Thanks to all the staff @ KBON for a great festival. It was my last show as a Zydeco Roadrunner. Smoking venues have taken a toll on my health, so I can no longer play them. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last 4 1/2 years. Thanks to Leroy for the opportunity to be a member of his band. I'm looking forward to what God has in store for me.. God Bless you all...."

Ronnie, not only are you a very talented guitarist and vocalist, but over the years you have become a great friend of all of us here at KBON.  We wish you the very best, and hope to see you grace the stage again soon!
